X-mas Spirit

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

What happened to the X-mas Spirit? Most people I talked to were not in Christmas mood at all when it came to X-mas countdown. Just during festive days it became better.

Hmm… this was almost like Hong Kong. Celebrating Christmas there means going out for party. All locals who usually don´t go clubbing at all are in the streets that night watching the lights… it´s sooooo many people. It took me two and a half hours to reach my favourite clubbing place in LKF, thirty seconds to check it´s too overcrowded to move, 20 minutes to struggle out of that place and another one and a half hours to go back to hall by cab. At least I survived…. I heard some years ago people even died coz they got stamped down while watching the lights….

Anyways, regarding Christmas Spirit, that you can find in Austria much easier (especially the country-side). This year I was celebrating with my family again, mom, granny, sis, baby & the dog, that was quite touching. On Dec. 25th, I even went partying in the "mouse-trap". But not normal party, my sister & me dressed up as Christmas trees, with all the ornaments and that stuff…..

People in the club already now us, we´re always running around in stupid costumes. Even in a city like HK that would be weird, so imagine running around like an X-mas tree on the country-side..*haha…

first working day II

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

Ok, now I´m ready to talk about that very night. It was quite fun….. running around carrying my tray full with beer and getting jostled by drunk people. Haha.. it was not that bad, but quite stressful for the first time.

Did you know there is a Whiskey called "Dimple"… such a daft name…. hehe… even the whisky bottle looks really dim-witted. I heard the taste´s the same, but still this is one of the most expensive whiskeys.

All in all it was quite fun. Best tips came from — not guys like I´d have thought — but couples. Dewy couples were the best. They´ll give hilarious tips just to show off in front of their dates.

Scholars (I know there shouldn´t be any but there definitely are) are not generous at all. But worst are italian people….. they´re so cheap. The guys will always stare at your ass but when it´s time to order they are the ones who pay you with five or even one cent coins just not to tip you. Sooooo stingy.

But well, next time I´ll wear a push-up to push up my tips. If I was a rich girl dadidadi daidi daaaa

new job

Monday, December 19th, 2005

hey, I got a new job. It´s not the blow-up-a-bank-assistant one, but in the same Irish Pub where I met this weird guy. I´m going to work in service and till Tuesday I got to memorize some 250 types of beer & whisky. Didn´t even know there were so many.

Yesterday I had initial training, but instead of learning how everything goes they made me try the different types of whisky. god… after two hours I decided I´m trained well enough. So I just stayed there and kept on drinking with them. Even though I didn´t officially work that night I already got 12 euros tips for obsessive grinning behind the bar…

And, I also learend some new English words. Instead of How do you do? it is "Hwssssit goiinnnn?" and never answer with "fine" but always say "Graaand" (try to make a long face then it sounds much cooler :)

film-riss

Friday, December 16th, 2005

last week there was a filmriss-festival at my university where they showed movies of ongoing future super-producers. it`s a four day competition with different movie-categories. some of them are really crazy. the first film I saw was about students dressed up as sperms going on holiday. at the end they all died. it was quite… weird. if it had any deeper meaning I didn’t get it.

another movie of that category showed a big fat Elvis imitator slaughtering and eating all the people passing by his home. when a policemen shot him to death the spirit of Elvis gave him back life so he could continue getting "flesh for the king" as the title said. so strange, but fortunately this was just one category.

there were also a lot of normal really good movies and very interesting documentations. one was about a female teacher in Colombia and what she did to help the people there. during the take guerrillas came to the village coz they heard of foreigners making a video. the film crew had to hide and and the people of the village helped them to flee in a fisher boat at night. later on they got help by the official police, but when the police heard that the guerrillas where after them they left the crew alone again. really scary. the crew then stopped the recording two and a half weeks prior and went to the beach instead. well done I would say.

some of my friends from studies handed in a movie too, but they didn’t´t make any prize. another movie from some people of my university made the 2nd place, but I don´t think it was so good coz I couldn’treally follow the story. some guy dreaming he is running around in the woods naked. (it was in the same category as the student-sperms).

all in all it was a lot of fun and made me regret having taken journalism as my major. making movies must be so cool. my sister is fascinated too. she already started to write a screenplay. it´s going to be a horror movie and she offered me the role of the girl staying alive longest. I´m so flattered.

hope she doesn’t work on a real-life play

yesterday I was partying in an Irish Pub with live music and all that stuff. Actually it was just a long bearded dude with his guitar but well, quite romantic after two three beers or so. All time long a guy was staring at me. It took him 2 and a half hours to come over and start a conversation.

well, after five minutes of smalltalk his eyes became really big and I knew something was coming up. "Hey, do you know what I wish for right now?"….. ("oh no.. tell me")….. "I always wanted to blow up a bank!"

here it was. I actually counted on sth like wanna meet you again, wanna become xxx, I want a mc donalds super deluxe chicken meal with a big coke (that´s what I was wishing for), also: right now I want you to go home with me and tütüdeli… would have been in the range of possible things I thought he would say… but no… for the next hour this guy was entrusting me with his most secret plans for blowing up a bank. Including favourite bank company, detonation devices and escape-plan with submarine.

wohoo… first I thought he´s joking, but the more he got into it the more I understood it was really a life-long dream of his. At the end he wanted to hire me as his "blow up the bank" assistent. Enchanting perspectives….

If you got similar dreams post me and we´ll make Julia´s 11…
