to HK today

February 7th, 2006 by juliahk

Gotta make a break from speed packing which doesn´t really pay off that much. I´m throwing all useful things for my HK trip into my suitcase just to see that it won´t fit in. Then everything out again, and try to stuff it more carefully just to notice in the end that I can close my suitcase, but that it is terribly overweight. But I promised myself not to leave the booze behind. So I checked the weather report for the coming week and decided to throw all my pullovers out since it´s gonna be 20 degrees plus daytime.

I´m so excited, can´t wait to arrive and continue my HK life, even though it´s just for three weeks. I´ll big big shopping - as much as my suitcase allows and a little bit more - and I finally get to eat seafood again. And most important, I finally will get food to eat that I didn´t have to prepare be4. Not that my cooking skills are so bad, but I´m just so lazy.

ohh, and good news. I´ll share a room with richard gere. no, not really. but I found my HK sim card again. My Diesel got torn and I it got stuck somewhere inbetween.

So, see you soon. And richard, pls leave me the keys under the flowerpot….

filmriss um elf

February 4th, 2006 by juliahk

who know´s the band lassie singers? they were quite hot in the 90s and did a lot of critical songs toward men. because we liked that concept (and escpecially the types of songs) we decided to do the same.

for that we founded a band too. till now it is just mary, tom and me. because of our male member we decided to call ourselves "der gehört auch zu uns" (= he belongs to us too).

so, today we wrote our first song called "filmriss um elf" (mental breakdown at eleven). It´s about a girl getting drunk, having a one-night stand and then the next morning realizing the guy she went home with hasn´t really been mr. fantastic.

here some extracts:

……

……
……

ich weiß da gibt’s ne wunderbar

mit echten Männern drin

so leicht beschwipst da zieht es uns

magnetisch  nach dort hin

Die Tür geht auf, wir stürmen rein

ich glaub ich seh nicht recht

ein heißer Typ im Männermeer

ich hoff mal der is echt.
…….

…….

…….

ref:

pls for all non-natives: don´t try to translate it. it´s quite… harsh. and the moral of that song is: don´t drink so much alcohol girls.

much better

February 2nd, 2006 by juliahk

woha, I´m feeling much better now. The scholarship is still messed up, but I´m on my way to sue them. Theoretically.

At least the appoíntment with my prof turned out to be quite positive. He just wanted to congratulate me for my work in that course and rewarded me with a book on ethnology. A really good and funny one. I even got a signiture, wishing me good luck in my project in HK. wow, I feel special.

and then, I got my camera back. the one I lost at new years. really, that made my day

today is not my day

so, now you got it. I just managed to mess up an exam for first time. And another prof called because he has to talk with me. Life can be so great. Yeah!!

$$ the fucking scholarship-bureau!!!!! $$

January 30th, 2006 by juliahk

sorry, but I´m really mad right now. The bureau for my scholarship just called today to tell me I won´t get the money for last semester because a document was missing. Plus, I have to pay for the studentfees myself and I won´t get a compensation for my semester bus card which is f****$$$ expensive too. But what makes me really really angry is that just in November I got a notice saying that I successfully applied and will get my scholarship as usual. Cool, really cool. I work my ass just to get some money and then I loose approx. 25 000 HKD just because of that damn bitch who was responsible for my application. "Dear Miss Ebenberger, I´m so sorry, I tried to contact you. For now it´s too late but you can always apply for second semester". Yess Yess Yess, and meanwhile I´ll sleep under the bridge coz I´m missing out quite a lot of money.

But OK. I don´t mind having studied really hard and working overnight to keep my grades an A to get this scholarship instead of having much more fun with party. Noooo… Well thank you dear lady, thank you bureau for student scholarship and thank you Austrian bureaucracy who will send you your letter of advice always one week after the dealine expired. I´ll all invite you to my new home, then we can have tea together. I hope you don´t mind that it´s a little chilly there.

So, see you soon if i didn´t freeze or starve to death inbetween,

and thank you again, I wouldn´t have known anyways what to do with so much money.

Coming, for real!

January 19th, 2006 by juliahk

It´s done now, I bought the tickets today to fly to Hong Kong again. Wanna leave right now, but unfortunately this wouldn´t be too good for my studies since I´m in the middle of examination period. So it´s gonna be in my semester break, from feb 8th to feb 28th. Three marvellous weeks with seafood, modest temperatures and lots of SPA stopovers (and other things that are fun).

Please please please mail me again your numbers, somehow I can´t find my HK sim card any more :(

So, I´m going to pack now. (Just kidding). Going to learn. And dream of sushi, sweet&sour fish and… damn, I´ll get fat in HK again….

I love Hong Kong

January 14th, 2006 by juliahk

Kowloon, Kowloon Hong Kong, I like Hong Kong, that´s the place to be…..

for that reason I´m coming cack. This time for real. Flight is reseverd, on Monday I´ll do the booking. I´m so happy to come back, even if it´s just for holidays. I miss all the people, the food and again the people.

So I´ll take a really good HK vacation. Best thing is, I won´t just go there for fun but can use my trip also for studies. I´m doing a project on tourism in Hong Kong. Analysing  how the process of McDonalidisation influences/shapes the management of HK tourism.

Hmm…. if you got any idea on what I can write for this topic please write me.  Tourism in general and the management thing.

Gotta go to bed now and dream of Hong Kong, see you soon!!!!

are you a gentleman?

January 7th, 2006 by juliahk

recently I had a very funny conversation with my friends about what it requires to be a gentleman. One of my friend than was outing himself: he went to a gentleman-seminar. wow. he knew all the facts… ok.. here we go….

for being a gentleman, man must have three particular features. One must be able to

a) ride

b) fence and

c) play the piano

in order to be a gentleman.

So, these rules I guess are a little bit outdated. Even though I´d like to meet a man capable of this, lets play fair.

Instead of riding a horse, let the present gentleman have a car. A really good one, we don´t fall in love with knights riding on a donkey.

Second, you guys don´t need to fence any more. Kung-fu, muay thai or just simple boxing is enough to show off and protect us.

Last, the piano, thaz a classy. Still I know many guys learn the guitar to lull off their adoreès.

So, car, judo and guitar for being a gentleman? Maybe, but just in theory. for real life women often don´t need a hero anymore, they´re themselves pretty tough. And I´d rather hop on your bike than sit in some super-expensive car with some super-boring gentleman. The guitar? Pop in a karaoke cd, you can sing playback. or sing yourself, thaz much sweeter (even when it sounds really terrible :)

Just open the door for us, write us  little stupid love notes amd surprise us with the wild flowers you picked in the very early morning. Show us you care, we love that. That makes you a real gentleman.

For joining my new "the modern gentleman" seminar contact me under julia_blablaöksdj@bla or just write me a comment if you got any bright idea on that.

what a night - NEW YEAR 2006

January 1st, 2006 by juliahk

Yesterday was New Year… here some things I remember:

*) I went to a party

*) I went to a really cool party

*) I went to a really cool illegal party

*) I went to a really cool illegal party in my university building

*) free drinks & free food

*) Oh what a night….

*) it´s winter here,

*) minus *** degrees… really reallly cold

*) and I lost my mobile

*) my camera

*) my sister

*) my keys

*) and ….

*) most badly

….. my jacket

All in all it quite fun, despite the fact that I had to walk around in snowy cold salzburg for more than an hour in search of a free cab….

I then found my sister the next morning, actually afternoon, even more hangovery than me. The whole day then we kept singing modern talking charts….. it´s so good nobody´s in hall right now….

With my sister also the keys came back… and fortunately one of them goes for the looker @ university… so with some luck there might be my camera, mobile & jacket in it… Gimme hope

X-mas Spirit

December 28th, 2005 by juliahk

What happened to the X-mas Spirit? Most people I talked to were not in Christmas mood at all when it came to X-mas countdown. Just during festive days it became better.

Hmm… this was almost like Hong Kong. Celebrating Christmas there means going out for party. All locals who usually don´t go clubbing at all are in the streets that night watching the lights… it´s sooooo many people. It took me two and a half hours to reach my favourite clubbing place in LKF, thirty seconds to check it´s too overcrowded to move, 20 minutes to struggle out of that place and another one and a half hours to go back to hall by cab. At least I survived…. I heard some years ago people even died coz they got stamped down while watching the lights….

Anyways, regarding Christmas Spirit, that you can find in Austria much easier (especially the country-side). This year I was celebrating with my family again, mom, granny, sis, baby & the dog, that was quite touching. On Dec. 25th, I even went partying in the "mouse-trap". But not normal party, my sister & me dressed up as Christmas trees, with all the ornaments and that stuff…..

People in the club already now us, we´re always running around in stupid costumes. Even in a city like HK that would be weird, so imagine running around like an X-mas tree on the country-side..*haha…

Img_6576_2 But it was lots of fun. When it came to dancing we had to get rid of our outfits, but we still kept the christmas ball ornaments as you can see…
